The Swan Song Project is a charity based in Yorkshire which helps people to write and record their own original song.:
– At any stage in the grieving process related to a bereavement and/or
– Are living with a life limiting illness or otherwise approaching the end of their life
The aims of the project are to give people an opportunity to celebrate a life in a song, to do something exciting and new in a difficult time and to add something unique and special to their legacy. A professional songwriter provides support every step of the way, from finding initial ideas to completing a finished recording. The songs can then be shared publicly via our website, or kept private and only played for chosen friends and family.
What people say about song writing sessions:
• How proud they are of their songs,
• How happy they are to have a permanent recorded message to their loved ones,
• How it has helped them come to terms with their situation,
• How it has helped them articulate and communicate their feelings in a way they may not have otherwise done, and
• How much fun they had during the process.
Your session can be offered online (over Zoom) or in person.
Their sessions can involve talking about your life and things that you might like to include in the song, talking about what other songs you like and how you might like your song to sound, writing lyrics and even helping to compose music.
No previous experience of any of this is required, as their team are skilled at helping you through every step.
When the song is finished it will be recorded. There is no pressure to sing your song, although they can also help with that. You will then be given your song to keep on CD or in a digital format.
Please contact them through their website, or using email or phone, to learn more about these free creative sessions with their song writing team.
