Free Bereavement Training for Support Services for Men in Leeds
Leeds Bereavement Forum has received funding, from The National Lottery Community Fund to provide free bereavement training and mentoring for staff and volunteers working with men in Leeds.
About the Training
This training has been developed in partnership with Sue Sutton, Bereavement Practitioner at Carers Leeds, who already runs successful peer bereavement groups at Cross Gates and District Good Neighbours’ Scheme CIO and MHA Communities South Leeds. The training includes:
- Basic bereavement skills and theories
- Discussion on self-care and the impact of Covid-19
- Facilitating a bereavement support group (optional)
The training sessions will be delivered for small groups of staff and the content will be adapted to meet the needs of participants. There will be chance for discussion around bereavement and to meet with other staff and volunteers providing support services for men across Leeds.
Training sessions
Training sessions will take place from Autumn 2023 and can be online or face-to-face. As a result of the funding, the sessions are available free of charge for voluntary organisations and services who are working with men in Leeds. We are particularly keen to provide support and training to people who want to set up peer bereavement support groups for men in Leeds.
