Bereaved Carers Survey about End of Life Care in Leeds 2021-22
Healthwatch Leeds has been working with Leeds Palliative Care Network to find out about people’s experiences of end-of-life care for their relative or friend in a hospital, community (including GP surgeries, Leeds Community Healthcare and private care agencies and care homes)
and hospice settings over a period of three months, October to December 2021.
A total of 115 people provided feedback across all the settings, compared to 225 in 2020. This represents about 6% of the total number of deaths registered during this time.
Summary of Recomendations
The report includes a Summary of Recommendations for hospitals; services at home, hospices and care homes which includes reinforcing the importance of keeping families up to date about changes in condition/plan of care and the importance of delivering compassionate care at all times within all education sessions and how services work together in the months before a person’s death.
