Supporting People with Learning Disabilities through a Bereavement

Do you work with people with a mild to moderate Learning Disability? Would you like to feel more confident to support them through a bereavement? In partnership with the Learning Disability Network at Forum Central, we have co-produced a bereavement skills training course aimed at staff and volunteers who work with people with a learning disability.

The training would be most suitable for people who:

  • Work face to face with adults with Learning Disabilities
  • Have had little or no formal training in bereavement

What will the training cover?

This course aims to increase general awareness and understanding around grief and loss as well as exploring when and how to offer bereavement support to people with learning disabilities.

Participants’ Feedback

“Today’s course enhanced techniques and confirmed ways to use them”

“Will use many of the suggestions to support customers and found facilitators clear and supportive.”

“The training has reaffirmed that some situations I’ve dealt with was the right way”
