When someone close to you dies in hospital, you may need to talk through your experience to help make sense of it. You may find it helpful to do this straightaway, or after some time has passed.
If your relative died at St James’s University Hospital or Leeds General Infirmary, the Bereavement Nurses at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust can offer a listening ear and/or advice with next steps. If you have any questions, the Bereavement Nurses can support you in gaining answers. Please note that if you have questions about diagnosis, care and treatment these will be referred to the clinical teams involved.
You can ask the Bereavement Office to refer you at your appointment. Alternatively, you can contact the Bereavement Nurses directly who will aim to contact you within two working days. The Bereavement Nurses are unable to provide on-going support, but can advise you on other bereavement support available if needed.
