It is with very sad hearts that we announced the closure of Leeds Bereavement Forum at our AGM on 6 December. A resolution was adopted at our AGM to wind down our charity at the end of this financial year. Thank you to everyone who attended.
Our charity has been dedicated to the signposting of bereavement care, as well as education and training in the field of grief and bereavement support in Leeds since 1996. Throughout this period our activities have been supported by our main funder, the NHS.
In recent years, contractions in the economy and government budgets have impacted this funding model. NHS contracts used to cover us for two years, with funds received yearly in advance. Over the past year, contracts have been reduced to six-months, with funds now received on a three month basis. Our trustees have concluded this is not a sustainable position and we are planning to close our charity at the end of March 2024.
A big thank you to everyone who has been involved in the Forum since 1996 when we were established. A special thanks to our trustees who have been working very hard behind the scenes to support staff during this process.
