Basic Bereavement Skills Training

In partnership with Leeds City Council, we offer the following Basic Bereavement Skills sessions for free to Leeds City Council staff, voluntary and community groups in Leeds. Unfortunately our upcoming in person session in November 2023 has been cancelled. The new venue for in person session will be: Merrion House, Woodhouse Lane, Leeds LS2 8LX. The session in February 2024 will be online.

Course overview

This three hour facilitated session introduces you to some of the basic theories about the grieving process and coming to terms with loss. It provides an opportunity for you to explore these ideas and develop your skills and awareness in a small group. The course includes:

  • An introduction to bereavement and loss
  • An overview of some grief models and theories
  • Listening skills and losses exercise
  • Signposting to further support
