St Gemma’s Hospice offers a bereavement service for people whose late family member or friend accessed one of their services.

Individual Support

They offer confidential individual bereavement support and counselling. They offer an initial appointment followed by up to six sessions in the first instance. Towards the end of these sessions, they explore whether further support would be helpful and they are able to offer up another six sessions. All sessions are weekly and can be face to face or on the telephone/zoom. They offer appointments during the day Monday-Friday and also one evening per week.

The Bereavement Café

Their Bereavement café meets the third Friday morning of the month from 10am until 12pm. This is a social group for people who have experienced a bereavement in the last two years and over eight weeks ago. It is a space for people who have had similar experiences to meet and provide mutual support in a relaxed atmosphere. Staff and café volunteers from the bereavement service are also there. Refreshments are provided. People are welcome to attend the café for up to one year.
