The Bereavement Service at Carers Leeds provides bereavement support for carers when the person they have been caring for has died. They understand that this can be a challenging and difficult time, not only dealing with the practicalities following your loss but also adjusting to a very different life without the person you have been caring for. You may be left with feelings of sadness, isolation, helplessness, guilt, relief to name just a few.

One-to-one bereavement support

They can offer one-to-one bereavement support which would involve speaking on a regular basis (either weekly or fortnightly) with a qualified and experienced Bereavement Support Worker. The number of sessions is time limited (usually up to 6 one hour sessions), and will be agreed in discussion with your Bereavement Support Worker. This time will give you the opportunity to talk through, in a safe and non-judgmental space, the thoughts and feelings you are experiencing.

Bereavement Support Groups

They also run monthly Bereavement Support Groups which you may be interested in joining.

Everyone experiences grief in a different way and there is no right or wrong way to grieve. Not everyone will feel the need to access bereavement support but if you think this is something you would like, or you would like more information, please contact the Carers Leeds Advice Line and they will arrange for a member of the Bereavement Team to contact you for an initial conversation.

If you are a professional you can make a referral online.
