Basic Bereavement Skills Training

Our Basic Bereavement Skills training is available to a wide range of groups and individuals working with bereaved people in general settings such as health and social care, housing support, adult care, volunteer bereavement workers, faith and community groups.

Dates

In partnership with Leeds City Council we offer sessions for free to voluntary and community groups in Leeds and Leeds City Council staff. The following sessions with run at Enterprise House, 12 St Paul’s Street, Leeds LS1 2LE from 12.45pm to 4pm.

Course overview

This three hour session introduces you to some of the basic theories about the grieving process and coming to terms with loss. It provides an opportunity for you to explore these ideas and develop your skills and awareness in a small group. The course includes:

  • An introduction
  • Theory overview
  • Listening skills and personal losses exercise
  • Anticipatory grief
  • Short loss exercise with follow up discussion
  • Small group exercise using a case history.
